Simple idea , concept and finished design takes time to perfect while innovation never ends. This will be the first of many ideas over the year I CAD the idea and I stored away for a public view

INTRODUCE YOU A WATER CRAFT SPECIFIC MOUNT SYSTEM

NO LIMITS, YOU CHOOSE AND ENJOY

An idea that started in early 2016. This is the first 3D prototype I ever made.

IDEA & CONCEPT:

Project started when I couldn’t find the solution to what I need it and only way to solve this issues is to design something that made more sense. Often we live with “Is what it is” and limit your functionality to the fullest. It works but I can be better. Concept has been tested it and achieve well within vision I had 4 years ago.

DESIGN:

No only it has to function correctly but design has it purpose. Few revised CAD was made from original ideas. Here is few key elements on making this item

  • As strong as ABS plastic
  • Able to handle the weight of most common devices such as GoPro, Insta360, NK Speedcoach
  • Serviceable parts
  • Discrete sizes

MATERIAL:

3D Printing is heart of our prototyping to finish products. ABS plastic is common material used on many of plastic devices. Here we used PETG filament to build this products.

For adhesion we use no other than 3M VHB double sided tape.

SPEC:

Unit weight- 20-25gram

Base unit – 25mm x 25mm

Leg expansion- 38mm-68mm (overall), 37mm-55mm (Flat to narrowest)

Angle- 47degree (maximum pitch angle )

Weight Capacity- 3.75lbs capacity on main mount. 1.6lbs capacity for anchor. Average weight of GoPro, Insta260 and NK speed coach is 165gram.

Main mount have capabilities for 11 times the weight of devices. Anchor system is 5 times the weight of the devices

DISCLAIMER:

We are not responsible for any accidental lost of the devices. Highly recommend to use additional buoyancy such floating key chain as necessary to be use at your own will. Across the border this same responsibility you would be adhere with any GoPro mount style accessories you find from store/online.

FAQ:

Any picture of uMount on the board?

Yes, I have tested on my current board I’m riding. See here for the gallery

Why uMount better than existing mount system?

GoPro mount have revolutionized our media content in a different way tremendously. Any camera manufacture all follow the trend of mount system to be compatible with GoPro style. If you look at all the available mount from wearable to object it has covered well.

uMount is one of a kind mount system that no one has designed yet. When you mount a device in angle specially with camera you start off angle that look funny entire footage.

Yes, when you are on the water you constantly moving so why matters? . It’s a two different issues here. You start off without zero horizontal state all you video/photo will be always angled and post production editing will be never the same.

Also from a visual stand point they look funny and out of places.

When can I purchase uMount?

As of January 26th, 2021 we are conducting beta testing with selective people for feedback of the uMount.

We are looking to be available by end of February for custom ordering.

Price of uMount?

As of January 26th, 2021 we have not set pricing until beta testing is finished.

What come with uMount?

uMount consist of three items. Main mount system, Anchor piece, tethering 1.18mm paracord string and GoPro nuts and screw.

This is the mock up of the package and what you will receive

What kind of board will it work on?

Mount was design to mainly for the SUP (Standup Paddle board) with high volume nose that that has pitch top. For example, Infinity, Starboard, NSP, One SUP, Bark and more…

With that said any other type of fleet such as Surfski, OC-1/2, kayak all should fit within the current mount leg angle parameter.

Can you get different leg to fit if doesn’t work right?

As first 3D printed production it’s going through some testing to various fleet on feedbacks. We are hoping existing design will accommodate all types of fleet.

Mount is 100% serviceable as rod is holding the leg and we will provide how to in the feature.

Is installation easy?

Yes it is. You simply choose the area you want to mount and stick it. With that said you have align the mount nice and perpendicular and setup the leg in a correct angle. Leg is snug but will able to hold the position while you make the placement. Installation Video will be featured soon .

How strong is the mount?

The mount and the anchor is strong enough to hold your common devices such as GoPro 9, Insta360 and NK Speed Coach. Average weight of these products are around @158-165gram (@0.34lbs)

Live test shows mounts is solid on the water as buoyancy additional lights up the downward gravity.

How is the lateral support?

With attached by the leg while 3M VHB double sided tape hold the weight capacity of 11 times more on mount and 5 times more on anchor of the devices still effect in some way.

Actual mount/anchor is structurally strong and will hold. Upon major impact to hard surface such as paddle blade strike or accidental hitting rack may causes it come loose. Pro/cons is that instead of breaking other parts of ABS plastic it can help you save it. This is why tethering string come with mount and anchor together. In a way uMounts has own break away system from damaging your lay up on your fleet.

Tethering actual devices to the string is important so that mount and devices will be safe at all times.

UV resistance?

PETG is UV resistance over ABS plastic.

What is PETG?

PETG has become popular in commercial and consumer 3D printing because it offers the strength and durability of plastics like ABS while being as easy to work with as PLA. Parts made with PETG are more flexible and impact resistant than PLA and can be used in load-bearing applications.
